IRONMAN® World Championship

Frequently Asked Questions

A collection of frequently asked questions our clients have asked us when booking our trip to the IRONMAN® World Championship race.

You should check when buying your ticket as rules do change but recent rules stated that the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), administered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in consultation with the State Department, permits citizens of 39 countries to travel to the United States for business or tourism for stays of up to 90 days without a visa.  There are some rules for those that are coming from VWP countries so please check  https://www.cbp.gov/travel/international-visitors/visa-waiver-program to see if you are eligible or if you need a visa.

We suggest you arrive the Friday or Saturday a week before the race to adjust to the time difference, acclimatize to the heat and humidity, ride the course in multiple sections, run a few times on the highway and Alii Dr. and do the practice swim race on Sunday morning.

We suggest you stay until at least Monday or Tuesday to go to the awards Sunday night and recover a bit from the race before getting back on the plane.

You should book your ticket into Kona International Airport (KOA).  Our package includes the round-trip airport transfer and you will be met by EST staff at the baggage claim.

We do not offer airfares, but we are happy to connect you with a ticket agent we are working with who have offices in the US and Brazil who can assist you with your flight arrangements in English, Spanish or Portuguese.

We suggest using an Airtag if traveling with your bike, just in case somethign happens. We also suggest having something to distinguish you bike case from others as many athletes always seem to have the same bike case.

No. Our travel package includes all the transportation you need including airport transfers, morning for swimming, breakfast and the supermarket, evening shuttles for dinner, shuttles to all race functions, trips to relax on Hapuna Beach and ride the course in multiple sections and some day trips.

All of the major airlines have flight departures from the Kona Airport (KOA) to the mainland well after your check-out time. Please consider this when booking your reservation with us. As us right away to see if a Late Check-Out is available for your condo.  Another option is to book another night at the condo to spend the day in Kona before your late night flight home.

We can help store your luggage for your late departure but might not be able to host you for the day during your stay.

Before the race we offer swims, bike rides and runs on the course. We offer a few different day trips before and after the race for you to explore areas of the Big Island.
